It definitely does effect the lives of everyday people… They set unrealistic beauty standards for girls growing up, and if you have a daughter or niece, they are being directly influenced by how these women portray themselves. They are telling girls that it is ok to be famous for being pretty by way of expensive surgeries.

Also, because the media spends so much time focusing on these celebs, it diverts our attention away from things like the opioid epidemic in the U.S., or that Tesla is leading the way to an electric car future. All of this stuff matters in a greater social context.
