The Path of the Lone Wolf
At times I sit in my room and wonder why
The intention of so many people on my path was only to make me cry.
My only goal in life from the time of birth
Was to shine a light and to create a loving hearth.
I’m convinced that people are scared of the light,
For it exposes the dark and hits them with fright.
Realizing that their shadow selves are the ones in control,
I was a friendly reminder that they cannot hide their soul.
Being a lone wolf is no easy task,
Which leads me to the question I’m about to ask:
Why are you afraid to be who you authentically are?
The easiest answer is of course how we’ve been socialized & culture,
But what if the real answer is much deeper than that?
People don’t seem to do the deep work,
And would much rather laugh, mock, and point at,
The individual who dares to create their own luck
By looking themselves straight in the mirror,
And being honest about why they feel inferior.
“Hurt people, hurt people” is a saying I’ve taken to heart.
How can you expect people to get you,
When they refuse to look at their own life as their work of art?
Never trust an individual who’d rather gossip than put in the work,
It’s much easier to talk shit than it is to follow your dreams & network.
The road less traveled has fewer people on it for one reason:
Lone wolves take the heat and the lead,
Because everyone they know was hellbent on them never having their season.
Good thing the opinions of others never matter for long to the lone wolf,
Instead, they look within and realize this journey has always been about their own self-worth.
Karma passed down from previous lives challenges the lone wolf to empathize
With the plights of others through their struggles so that they can recognize:
Greatness is within everyone!
It’s up to the lone wolf to provide that inspiration
So that people can rise up and see that life is a result of their creation.
The path of the lone wolf is the path of the pioneer
So if you find yourself on it, not to fear!
Most will never get you but that’s okay,
Keep your eyes on the prize and know that you make way
For those who come behind you and do not fray
Because you had the courage and tenacity to go against the grain,
Leaving the naysayers to look at you in vain.
“How did they do that?!” They will say
As they look at your growth and success in dismay
Because you’d been providing the blueprint all along,
Their egos were just too insecure to admit you are strong.
Carry on, lone wolf…
For the road less traveled is the one that embodies truth.
